Join the 2020 Movement To Bring Space Science To Northern Virginia
We Need Your Help
By donating to Pearl Project Institute’s Challenger Center of Northern Virginia, you will take the first step to bringing exceptional learning experiences to the youth in our community, ignite stargazing quality imagination to problem-solving, harness today's new technology skills in the areas of computer science, aerospace careers, and STEAM.
The Pearl Project Institute for Innovation in STEM Literacy has launched its fundraising campaign to bring a Challenger Center and its experiential space science education to Northern Virginia in 2020. Inspired by education, the Challenger Center is a space science learning center founded in 1986 by the families of the astronauts who died in the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster on January 28, 1986. learn more (see video)
The Challenger Center Experience
A Challenger Center space themed mission uses S.T.E.M. (science, technology, engineering, math) concepts, simulation, and a hands-on learning environment to work as astronauts, engineers, researchers, and journalists to search for life on Mars, establish the lunar colony, study our Earth from space station, or intercept a comet on a collision course with Earth. We believe space sciences can foster STEM career awareness in our youth, team work, communication, engineering thinking and critical problem-solving and women to consider aerospace careers. We plan to offer student missions, seminars, educator training, executive team building missions, camps, and family events. We are actively looking for volunteers, donors, and cheerleaders.
